Surf Life Saving Carnival

Over the weekend of 8th-9th August a Carnival
was held at Palm Cove. This event involved quite
a few different clubs and was hosted by the
Cairns Surf Life Saving Club. This club has
operated for 78 years and is one of the oldest
established Surf Life Saving Clubs in Australia.
The SLS movement is a true showcase of the
Australian beach culture and has been responsible
in saving almost 500,000 lives since 1907.

CairnsCam is very nearly there!

After a few, quite a few actually, technical hitches CairnsCam is live!
It will take a few more days before everyone will be able to log on
straight away but by the end of this week www.CairnsCam.info
will take you staight to the camera site.
I went to Palm Cove with my son Finn, who's 3, and phoned Dad.
He lives in Perth and hasn't seen Finn in over a year so it was great
for Dad to watch Finn kick his blue ball around.
To cap off the first day a fire twirler did a display on CairnsCam
and I managed to capture a few stills.
I'm really looking forward to the coming months as the site
developes to become a sister webcam to BroomeCam,
separated by a mere 3700kms.

Welcome to the CairnsCam Blog

Very soon now www.CairnsCam.info will be live with a streaming video
view of the beautiful Palm Cove beach. The view will be to the east over
the Pacific Ocean towards the amazing Great Barrier Reef.
Justin Hoskins from SubcultureCreations.com is putting the
finishing touches to the art piece that will form the EYE of CairnsCam.
CairnsCam will be very similar to www.BroomeCam.info in style
and will provide information about Cairns and Far North Queensland.
